very good
One of the best books about art techniques

i got here the brazilian translation of and old or diferent cover version, most of thoose books you buy for 5 or 6 bucks
teach how do do with some specific media, like one book for oil, other for watercolour, when you see you spent 200 bucks on a lot of small books ! they are good too, but thoose big photos take about the whole page, and really, what they teach could be only on 2 or 3 pages.

And that book teaches about everykind of art technique.

The Lifeship
Published in Hardcover by HarperCollins (June, 1976)
Authors: Gordon R. Dickson and Harry Harrison
Average review score:

A pleasant tale from two sci-fi greats.
This is an odd semi-political tale about the differences of race and class; and how people of different backgrounds can get along. Set in the far future, a starliner blows up in space and a few survivors make their way to a lifeship, the equivalent of a lifeboat. One human of the upper caste, who assumes the leadership role, several humans of the worker caste, who act in a manner similar to slaves, and two aliens, who are the only ones capable of piloting the ship. As the story goes we learn more about each character, and how they develop over time. In many ways this sounds a lot like a feel-good story of racial acceptance that would be more appropriate for the 1960's. The authors are both extremely good storytellers and this entertaining book delivers on that, without being too preachy.

The Lion Graphic Bible
Published in Paperback by Lion Pub (March, 2003)
Authors: Jeff Anderson, Mike Maddox, and Steve Harrison
Average review score:

Graphic Bible missing a story
Only thing I found wrong with this Bible is they took out the story of Sodom & Gomorra. I guess they didn't want to offend anybody. Art work is good,it has an adult comic book style to it.

The Lion in the Moon: Two Against the Sahara
Published in Paperback by Rainbow Books, Inc. (September, 1994)
Authors: Babs Suzanne Harrison, Staefan Eduard Rada, and E. Staefan
Average review score:

Beautifully written and informative
The concept of a "blind date" to cross the Saraha is intriguing and frought with possibilities. That they actually finished the trip still firends enough to marry is amazing. The recounting of the trip kept me very intrested, but I wanted more insights into the interpersonal relationship as it developed. Not "upwardly downwardly" stuff but introspective looks at how they understanding of each other developed.

The Long March to Power: A History of the Chinese Communist Party, 1921-72
Published in Textbook Binding by International Thomson Publishing (December, 1972)
Author: James P. Harrison
Average review score:

Fact filled, impressive history of the CCP
Harrison's "Long March to Power" is an excellent intro to the history of China's communist party. Out of the fractured and humiliated China of the 20's in spite of the "universal" appeal of marxism, Chinese communists retained a strong nationalistic bent throughout.

Especially good is the period covering the war with Japan. The KMD of Chiang Kei Shek is given little leeway by Harrison. Chiang was corrupt and so was the KMD. When the KMD could have rallied Chinese- it failed to leaving the CCP to recruit among the population. When the KMD might have fought the Japanese, it spent it's time with warlord struggles or against the CCP.

Harrison doesn't relent and shows the interparty rivalries and sometime viciousness of CCP politics. This is a densely written and fact filled book for those with an interest in the period.

Relaxing
Bought this one to take away on a beachside holiday with my son. The book imparts the mood of the beach as it drifts along. The beautiful illustrations create a mood of relaxation. I would highly recommend it at the end of a very active day to help calm the nerves of mothers or fathers and children.

The No-Cholesterol No Kidding Cookbook: The Medically Proven Kitchen Cure for High Cholesterol
Published in Hardcover by Rodale Press (November, 1991)
Authors: Mary Harrison Carroll and Hal Straus
Average review score:

Tasty food doesn't always require fat and cholesterol.
If you need a way to cook stuffed mushrooms, potato salad, red-bean chili, cornbread, salad dressings, even pie or bread with no cholesterol, then this cookbook is for you. The authors discuss the different types of cholesterol, and list the amount found in many common foods (631 mg. in a 31/2 oz. serving of chicken liver was at the top of the list.) Enough for 2 days max! If that is not your favorite, then how about some yummy shrimp (166 mg. in 3 oz.) It doesn't take long to reach the 300 daily maximum amount. Being new to the joys of tofu, tempeh and miso, I needed some ideas of how to cook with it. The Vegetable breakfast scramble on pg.176 is as close to scrambled eggs as you can find. It is also possible to make tofu resemble veal cutlets when marinated in the right ingredients. It has been a gold mine of good nutritional information!
